Runaway Note Revisited

This week has been crazy-hectic (what's new, right?), but I came across an old post where I scanned in a runaway note I wrote when I was eight and wanted to share it in case you missed it two years ago. It still makes me laugh so hard.

Check it out here.

The post was written shortly after this swim cap, over-sized goggle time period so obviously I had a lot to be angry about.

I am laughing so hard right now. That's hilarious. I ran away too once. But I packed everything I could fit into my Hello Kitty suitcase, walked to a friends, and told her mom not to tell mine that I was there:-) You just made my day.

I am laughing out loud. I love that your mom framed it. My favorite was the double use of "fat chance" and p.s mom it's your fault. So funny!!

best runaway note ever! i'm totally a list maker. my mom used to write us chore lists on saturdays, and i found total satisfication crossing those bad boys off.

thanks for the laugh.

HAHAHA! OH MY GOD! I just laughed out loud reading that. Absolutely hilarious! You were so organized and practical with that note! What a planner!! My favorite line "I might come home but for now fat chance" (very shortly preceded by "Fat chance you'll find me"). LOVE LOVE LOVE.

what a gem!! and i think it's time to bring back "fat chance", don't you?
i can just imagine your mom dying when she found that.
ps i ran away when i was around that age, too, but i just hid in my closet because i wanted to hear how my family reacted to me being missing. and i only made it about 45 minutes before i got extremely bored and nobody even noticed! haha. melodrama!

So funny. My favorite part is the "sliced oranges" and "p.s. Mom, it's all your fault."
So great!

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just read this out loud to Rob, and we laughed our heads off. First, that picture is killing me. I want to squeeze that cute little girl in swim atire. Second, the letter is classic. I ran away a number of times and remember that nobody ever cared either. I would punch the screen out of my window and "sneak out", leaving a really good goodbye note, and packing some food and clothes. But still no one cared. I think we would have been good friends!

This cracks me up every time I read it. I was wondering where Lucy gets her dramatic side from and I just realized it's totally from you! So funny. It also reminds me of the time in Moab when me and you hung out in a cave with some snacks, just building a fire and watching the snow fall. Except that time people noticed we were gone and were really mad at us. Still so worth it.

This note never gets old! First of all I love that you saw fit to move the time back and add that update to the note (got a little tied up in cutting oranges?), second you had lipstick on your list of things to bring (you never know who you'll see in your dog pen), and I love that you almost wrote where you were going in the note! I'm not saying you weren't serious - I mean that handwriting says you were not messing around.

Thanks for sharing again! And Haylie, that sorry had me cracking up!
